Overview

Punjab Seed Corporation (PSC) plays a vital role in maintaining the agricultural backbone of Punjab by producing high-quality certified seeds. Our structured seed multiplication and production system ensures that genetically pure, high-yielding, and disease-resistant seeds are available to farmers across the province.

Seed Multiplication System

PSC has established one of the largest and most reliable Seed Multiplication Systems in Pakistan through a successful Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

  • Basic & Certified Seed Production: Multiplying basic seeds obtained from agricultural research institutes into certified high-purity seeds
  • Contract Grower Network: Partnering with around 1,500 registered contract growers to produce certified seeds under strict supervision.
  • Cooperative Farming Model: Serving as a successful operational model for cooperative and corporate farming in the province.
  • Technology Transfer: Utilizing the grower network to transfer modern agricultural techniques and farm advisory to farmers.

Seed Production Procedure

Our seed production follows a systematic multi-step quality workflow:

  1. Varietal Demand Survey: Conducting annual field surveys to estimate crop-wise seed demands.

  2. Target Fixation: Finalizing production targets in consultative meetings with agricultural experts.

  3. Multiplication Planning: Allocating targets and issuing official multiplication plans to registered growers.

  4. Acreage Verification & Inspection: Verifying registered land areas and conducting joint field inspections with the Federal Seed Certification & Registration Department (FSC&RD).

  5. Quality Control & Roguing: Maintaining strict field standards to eliminate off-types and weeds.

  6. Sampling & Intake: Testing harvested crops at PSC internal quality control labs before procurement.
