The “Program for Quality Seed Production and Dissemination” is on track to elevate Punjab’s agricultural landscape by boosting the local production of key crop seeds. The initiative aims to make Punjab self-sufficient in basic seed production for 7 major crops—Wheat, Cotton, Maize, Paddy, Gram, Moong, and Oilseed—by 2026, alongside upgrading the Punjab Seed Corporation’s (PSC) 45-year-old seed processing infrastructure.

Key Objectives:

  • Self-Sufficiency in Seed Production: Ensure Punjab meets its own needs for quality seed of seven major crops by 2026.
  • Modernization of Seed Processing: Revitalize PSC’s seed processing units with cutting-edge technology for enhanced efficiency and quality.
